Mich. Serial Killer of Single White Women Identified  A prison parolee and sex offender was identified as the man suspected of killing five women in the city in a little more than a month, and he could face charges in a sixth death from 2004, authorities said Friday. Murder and assault charges were being pursued against Matthew Emmanuel Macon, 27, of Lansing, who was paroled from state prison June 26. He could face charges in the deaths this summer of Ruth Hallman, 76; Deborah Cooke, 36; Debra Renfors, 46; Sandra Eichorn, 64; and Karen Yates, 41. A number of the victims were beaten. Police also want Macon to be charged with the 2004 death of Barbara Jean Tuttle, 45. Black cop Bobby Cutts Jr. Pleads Not Guilty in Murder of his white 'girlfriend' Jessie Davis, Unborn Child  A Canton police officer pleaded not guilty Friday to three counts of aggravated murder and other charges in the killing of his pregnant girlfriend. Bobby Cutts Jr., who could receive the death penalty if convicted in the death of Jessie Marie Davis and her unborn daughter, nodded at his parents and his pastor upon entering and leaving the courtroom. Davis' disappearance in June drew national attention as thousands gathered to search for her in the area surrounding her northeast Ohio home. Closing arguments in 1985 Black-on-White rape-murder trial in San Francisco   Jurors heard closing arguments Thursday in a 22-year-old San Francisco murder case in which the only evidence against the defendant was DNA he allegedly left behind during the rape of the 28-year-old victim. Prosecutor Claudia Phillips said the odds that someone other than the defendant, John Davis, committed the Dec. 4, 1985, burglary, rape and fatal stabbing of Barbara Martz were in the quadrillions-to-1 and quintillions-to-1, based on the rarity of his DNA pattern. A quadrillion is a 1 followed by 15 zeroes; a quintillion is a 1 followed by 18 zeroes. "Modern science has finally caught up with Mr. Davis," Phillips told the jury in San Francisco Superior Court. "Modern science tells you who raped and murdered Barbara Martz." But Davis' defense attorney challenged the reliability of the DNA evidence while at the same time suggesting several theories, including that Martz may have had consensual sex with Davis sometime before the slaying and that someone else committed the killing. Davis told police, however, that he did not know Martz and had never been in her home. Two Negroes finally on trial for kidnap execution massacre of 5 White KFC workers  Authorities say DNA evidence, gathered 2 years ago, has linked 2 Tyler men to the crime scene of the 1983 KFC murders in Kilgore. 44 year old Darnell Hartsfield and 47 year old Romeo Pinkerton were indicted today on 5 capital murder charges each. Currently, both men are already in jail on other charges. Just last month, Hartsfield was sentenced to life in prison on Aggravated perjury charges. The indictments were announced on the Henderson courthouse steps by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, with the victims families in attendance. Pinkerton and Darnell Hartsfield, 46, cousins from Tyler, were indicted in November 2005 on capital murder charges as suspects in the 1983 deaths of five employees at the Kilgore restaurant. The bodies of David Maxwell, 20, Mary Tyler, 37, Opie Ann Hughes, 39, Joey Johnson, 20, and Monte Landers, 19, were found on a rural oil lease in Rusk County. Black Serial Killer Watts Convicted in 1970s Student Slaying  KALAMAZOO, Michigan: Jurors convicted a confessed serial killer of first-degree murder in the 1974 slaying of a 19-year-old Western Michigan University student. Coral Eugene Watts, who claims to have stabbed more than a dozen women to death but denied killing WMU student Glorida Steele, faces a mandatory life prison sentence after Friday's verdict. Steele was stabbed more than 30 times in the apartment she shared with her 3-year-old daughter in 1974. Watts, of Inkster, about 13 miles (21 kilometers) west-southwest of Detroit, already is serving a life sentence for the 1979 murder of Helen Dutcher in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale. Negro confesses to raping and murdering 85-year-old White woman in 1976   For more than 30 years, the gruesome murder of Mary Jane Barth remained unsolved, one of the department's oldest open cases. She was an 85-year-old retiree who had grown senile and often wandered away from home. On Sept. 17, 1976, police found her facedown inside Greenwood Cemetery. She had been raped and stabbed 27 times. Police worked overtime following leads. But the trail went cold. Then, last year, investigator Brenda Stevenson submitted DNA evidence to the state's crime lab, something police do regularly with cold cases in the hope of getting a break. And they did. Last month, police got word that the DNA from semen on a small piece of Barth's clothing matched a profile in an FBI database: Alfonzo Austin, 58, a convicted sex offender who was living in an apartment just outside Quincy in the Panhandle. Black footballers charged with gang-rape of intoxicated 12-year-old White girl In May 2004, Chris Collins (Christopher Edward Collins, Jr) and another (black) man were arrested and charged with sexually assaulting an intoxicated 12-year-old girl at a hotel in Texarkana, Tex., during an after-prom party. Two other men were charged in December 2005. Collins pleaded not guilty in March, after being indicted by a grand jury in December 2004. The case has created controversy in Texarkana, a small city of 35,000 on the Arkansas border. Collins and the three other men are black and the girl is white; some black residents have questioned whether the case has racial overtones. Collins confessed to the police that he had sex with the girl. Three days later, police arrested Collins' former Texas High teammate, Jabari Asim Jackson, then 18 years old. (AP) -- A judge has denied a bid to halt the execution scheduled this coming week of convicted cop killer Troy Anthony Davis, refusing to hear evidence the defense says would show he is innocent and identify another man as the killer. Defense attorneys said they would appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court. 73-year-old White man offers black some water - gets beaten to death for his kindness  The Louisiana man suspected of killing a Lubbock resident at his Southwest Lubbock home is now held on a $1-million bond. Alonzo Lewis, 25, is charged with capitol murder in the death of 73-year-old Don McCullough. Lubbock Police say the first time the two men met was most likely when McCullough offered Lewis a bottle of water Monday evening. Minutes later, Lewis returned to 8017 Vinton and allegedly attempted to steal something from the garage and attacked McCullough. A chilling 911 call from the victim's wife brought police to Southwest Lubbock, and later to a restaurant just a block away. Investigators credit a witness with giving them the tip they needed to find Lewis. That witness told police the man she saw had a Rosa's Cafe logo on his shirt. Worthless negro teen car thief murdered 14-year-old disabled White girl  Ind. -- A man arrested in connection with last week's slaying of a Columbus girl stabbed her after she awoke while he was trying to steal car keys from an apartment, police said. Police said Demetrick D. Shepherd, 20, admitted on Sunday that he stabbed 14-year-old Chelsea Porter early Friday in an apartment where one of her friends lives. Police said Shepherd is acquainted with the son of a woman who lives at the apartment. According to a probable cause affidavit, Shepherd broke into the home -- where Porter was staying to help her friend's family with a birthday party -- with the intention of stealing keys to the woman's car. Porter, who was sleeping on a couch, woke up, and Shepherd stabbed her numerous times with a knife he took from the apartment's kitchen, police said. Black convicted in burning deaths of White couple * Black guilty on all counts  ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A Portales man has been convicted today on two counts of first-degree murder in the August 2005 deaths of an elderly Roosevelt County couple whose bodies were found in the trunk of their burned-out car.
The jury will reconvene June 21st to decide whether 43-year-old Stanley Bedford should be executed for the slayings of Odis and Doris Newman. Bedford also was found guilty of 2 counts each of kidnapping and tampering with evidence and one count each of disposal of stolen property and aggravated burglary.
If the jury doesn't impose a death sentence, Bedford will serve 120 years in prison without the possibility of parole on those counts.

Smiling Black pleads not guilty to running down a white family in McDonald's parking lot - killing 2-year-old   The black man accused of running down five white family members and killing a 2-year-old girl in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Covington last May pleaded not guilty. Lanny Perry Barnes, 46, attended the 15-minute arraignment hearing wearing street clothes and no expression on his face. Sitting behind him was Stephanie Casola, the mother who was hit, along with her two sons, niece, and sister, by Barnes' vehicle. Witnesses told police that Barnes struck the family, backed up, smiled, and drove into them again. Casola's niece, Avery King, died of her injuries. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child.

Investigators say two men broke into an 85-year-old woman's home, beat her with a hammer, tied her up and took her pickup because they wanted to use it to pull their car out of a ditch early Wednesday. The suspects were captured after a chase that ended in a muddy pasture. Vincent Goree Woodard, 22, of Missouri City and Billie Jermaine Johnson, 18, of Rosharon, led sheriff's officers on a four-mile chase before crashing through a gate into a pasture, ramming the stolen truck into a patrol car and attempting to run down officers who were on foot, authorities said.
