•  Two Sailors Accused in Immigrant Smuggling
  SAN DIEGO -- Two U.S. sailors were arrested on suspicion of helping to smuggle immigrants through a patrol station near the San Ysidro border crossing, according to a Navy spokesman.
• Human Smuggling Trial's Close Delayed
  The three defendants -- Victor Sanchez Rodriguez, 58; his wife, Emma Sapata Rodriguez, 59; and her sister, Rosa Sarrata Gonzalez, 51 -- each had faced 58 counts of harboring and transporting illegal immigrants. The judge dismissed most of the counts Tuesday, saying others smugglers' actions put many of the immigrants in danger. Sarrata now faces three counts, while Sanchez and Sapata each face 20 counts, including two charges alleging they held for ransom the 3-year-old son of a Honduran woman who survived the smuggling attempt. The three defendants, all U.S. citizens, fled to Mexico after the smuggling attempt but were eventually returned.

• Mexican flag placement spurs veteran protest
  In multicultural East Dallas, Louis Garza's big Mexican flag draws little attention because it is under the American flag. However, the tiny Mexican flag at the very top and above the American flag has sent veterans to his yard in protest. Veterans from the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Garland Road near Garza's home have expressed anger at the flag display. "I told him bring the little flag down," said neighbor Elbert Wilson. "Put it below the American flag. That's where it belongs." The little flag was Garza's compromise to the protest after he received complaint about the larger Mexican flag on top. - (Newsroom)
  

• Mexican Immigration Official Arrested for helping illegals sneak into the U.S.
  The U.S. Border Patrol arrested a Mexican immigration official who was allegedly trying to help a group of undocumented migrants sneak into the United States, the Mexican government said Sunday. Immigration agent Francisco Javier Gutierrez was arrested at a checkpoint near Alamogordo, N.M., about 100 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, the Mexican Interior Department said in a news release. Gutierrez had been fired on corruption allegations last year but returned to his job after winning a court case in which he claimed he had been unfairly dismissed, according to the National Immigration Institute. - (Invasion!)

Illegal aliens from Guatemala pimp-out two pre-teen Asian sisters offering clients sex with 11 and 12-year-old girls
Five men were taken into custody in Orange County, Fla., Friday on suspicion they ran a child prostitution ring out of their apartment, offering clients sex with 11 and 12-year-old girls. Investigators said Alfredo Perez, Miguel Herrera, Manuel Lopez-Tino and two others used two Asian sisters for sex with a variety of men. The illegal immigrants from Guatemala allegedly sold the girls out of the Silver Oaks apartment complex in Pine Hills, Fla., according to the report. The alleged child porn operation was busted after a tip from a neighbor led police to the girls. - (Newsroom) - (Invasion!)

Criminal Diversity: Jury Selection to Begin in Illegal Alien Smuggling Case
HOUSTON -- Three people accused of operating smuggling cells were part of a ring responsible for the nation's deadliest human smuggling attempt, according to federal prosecutors. Jury selection was to begin Wednesday in the trial of Victor Sanchez Rodriguez; his wife, Emma Sapata Rodriguez, and Rosa Sarrata Gonzalez, Sapata's half-sister. The three are charged with harboring and transporting illegal immigrants in connection with a May 2003 smuggling attempt that killed 19 illegal immigrants. If convicted, all three could face up to life in prison.  The black truck driver, Tyrone Williams, abandoned the trailer. Williams, the only defendant facing the death penalty, was convicted in March 2005 of 38 counts of transporting illegal immigrants, all non-death penalty counts. - (Invasion!)

Six Mexican Nationals Accused of Rape, Sex-trafficking and Pimping Illegal Aliens
Salvador Fernando Molina Garcia told investigators that his wife became a prostitute against his wishes after they illegally crossed the border and came to Houston. But the woman he identified as his wife said he lured her to his apartment in Mexico, raped her and forced her into prostitution here. Molina Garcia pleaded guilty Tuesday to a sex-trafficking conspiracy charge.  The 37-year-old man is one of six Mexican nationals indicted on charges accusing them of smuggling young women and girls across the border and forcing them to work as prostitutes in Houston bars. • Ex-Saudi Embassy Driver Mohamed Abdel Wahab Yakoub Admits Smuggling Aliens
  Mohamed Abdel Wahab Yakoub, 61, admitted he used Saudi Embassy letterhead to obtain diplomatic visas from U.S. embassies for several Egyptians and Filipinos. Yakoub, an Egyptian, faces up to 10 years in prison Yakoub sold visas for $5,000 to $7,000. Court documents indicate he helped at least six illegal aliens gain entry to the U.S. in 2000 and 2001. He was fired by the Saudi embassy in 2002.

  MEXICO CITY -- Mexico took the unusual step of opening an investigation into the killing of a man, Guillermo Martinez, officials said was shot while sneaking into California, using the death to again draw attention to a contentious U.S. anti-immigration measure. Many Mexicans oppose the U.S. measure, which would build more border fences, make illegal entry a felony and enlist military and local police to help stop undocumented migrants. Raul Martinez, a spokesman for the Border Patrol said the agent had been "assaulted by an individual who threw a large size rock."   A tough new illegal immigration bill that just cleared the U.S. House of Representatives this month has outraged advocate groups and church relief agencies who fear their work with new immigrants could become illegal if the measure passes the Senate and becomes law. The bill, co-sponsored by Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), proposes erecting a 698-mile wall across one-third of the U.S.-Mexico border, turning illegal immigrants into felons and making it a felony to shield or offer support to undocumented immigrants. That provision is unnerving organizations such as Catholic Charities immigrant services in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.  
  

• Mexican Child Rapist Sex Offender Arrested Re-Entering U.S. - another 'Angel'
  SAN ANTONIO -- A convicted sex offender was arrested in San Antonio Wednesday after he illegally sneaked back into the country, police said. Angel Ruiz Bernal, 35, was taken into custody following a routine traffic stop. He was arrested eight years ago and served a five-year sentence for rape. After being released from prison, Bernal was deported to Mexico.  "We also understand that he has an extensive criminal history ranging from sexual offense on a child to aggravated assault, so this is not a person we want out in the community."
