Sports: NFL giant found half-naked in field, asks police to
shoot him Buffalo Bills tackle Cyrus Kouandjio has a pretty good excuse for missing practice Thursday. Police found the 23-year-old partially clothed in a field on the side of the highway Tuesday in Elma after he apparently had abandoned his car on the road. When officers approached Kouandjio, he reportedly yelled, “Shoot me!” The whole incident took place near the scene of an unrelated traffic collision, which shut down the highway for hours and sent a pregnant woman to the hospital in critical condition. Kouandjio pulled off the road near the accident and climbed over an electric fence to reach the field where he was discovered, according to the police report. Kouandjio, a 6-foot-7, 322-pounder beginning his third NFL season, was not arrested, but reportedly was taken to an area hospital for observation. The bizarre circumstances are reminiscent of an incident last year in which former Patriots linebacker Chandler Jones showed up shirtless and disoriented at a police station, knelt down in prayer and asked officers for help. - (Black Sports) |

domestic incident on tape DENVER - Broncos wide-receiver Cody Latimer told investigators he was wearing a GoPro when the mother of his son hit him outside of a bar in Denver on May 30, and caught the entire incident on tape. According to an Arapahoe County Sheriff’s department report, Latimer told investigators he captured the entire incident at a Denver night club because he was wearing the camera at the time. The sheriff’s deputy responded to Latimer’s home at 2:45 a.m., according to the report, after he called saying his girlfriend “put her hands on him”. The report spells out Latimer’s story, saying his “son’s mother” slapped him in the face because of “jealousy issues.” He told investigators he and his girlfriend, Jaimee Rando, 25, have a 5-month-old son together. Latimer told the officer he was not in any pain but called for help to “de-escalate” everything. - (Black Sports) |

Sports: Darren Sharper likely to get 15-20 years under new plea
deal in serial rape cases - over at least three states NEW ORLEANS -- A federal judge Tuesday formally accepted Darren Sharper's plea deal in a drug and rape case, making clear to the former NFL star that she could sentence him to 20 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo had earlier rejected a deal that could have meant a nine-year sentence. Attorneys say federal sentencing guidelines call for a sentence in the range of roughly 15 or 16 to 20 years. Prosecutors said in court Tuesday that they may recommend a lighter sentence, based on Sharper's cooperation in related cases. Sentencing was set for June 16. In addition to his federal guilty plea, Sharper has pleaded guilty or no-contest in state courts to charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted women in Arizona, California, and Louisiana. Those charges involve nine victims, but Milazzo said in court earlier this month that there may be as many as 16. Sharper has been sentenced to nine years in Arizona but still awaits formal sentencing in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and in state and federal courts in New Orleans. - (Black Sports) |

Sports: Broncos Player Returning To Denver After Questioned In
Prostitution Sting SAN JOSE — Broncos rookie safety Ryan Murphy is being sent back to Denver after being questioned by San Jose police during a prostitution sting, according to a statement by the team’s coach. The sting was part of Santa Clara County’s multi-agency human trafficking task force. Authorities were targeting an area of north San Jose known for prostitution. Police detained a suspected female prostitute in the area of North First Street and Brokaw Road. The woman told task force members that she had to go to a car that was parked in a gas station near the intersection to retrieve some property. Murphy was inside that car along with his brother. Murphy was questioned and released by police. However, his brother and the suspected prostitute were cited. Murphy’s brother and alleged prostitute have a relationship. The coach said "Although Ryan Murphy was not cited by police, we decided it was best for the team if we continued our preparations for Super Bowl 50 without him." - (Black Sports) |
