her first ever interview, Kristi Brown

-- Hundreds of people rallied Monday in support of a young black man who was sentenced
to a minimum of 10 years in prison after he had sex with a 15-year-old
white schoolmate. Marcus Dixon, a high school football player who was 18 at the time, was acquitted last year of rape charges but found guilty of aggravated child molestation. His supporters say wouldn't have received such a long sentence if he were white. The Georgia Supreme Court is considering Dixon's appeal. |

(AP) -- Baltimore Ravens running back Jamal Lewis, who had the second-highest
rushing total in NFL history last season, was indicted on federal drug charges.The
Atlanta native is accused of trying to help a boyhood friend buy cocaine in the
summer of 2000, U.S. Attorney William S. Duffey said. According to an affidavit,
no drugs were ever purchased. Lewis was expected to turn himself in on Thursday.

Marlins catcher Ramon Castro is now set to go on trial May 3 on charges
he raped a woman in his hotel room last year. Castro, a 27-year-old married father
of two, remains free on bond and is at the Marlins spring training camp in Jupiter,
Fla. Pittsburgh police charged him with raping a 28-year-old woman in his hotel
room while the Marlins were in town playing the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also was
charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, sexual
assault and unlawful restraint. |

alleged victim met one of the suspects at an apparent underage drinking party
in a downtown apartment building and was later assaulted at a different location.
Dwayne Smith and Anwar Jones were being held on suspicion of being
party to second-degree sexual assault. Smith is the second high-profile athlete

second female UNC student testified that former Carolina football player Robert
Allen Harris raped her during a summer 2002 make-out session in her dormitory
room. Harris is standing trial for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting another
female student in March 2003. The alleged victim testified that Harris, who was
her ex-boyfriend, burst into her dormitory room about 11 p.m. and removed his
clothes, tried to have intercourse with her and force her to give him oral sex.

 Marcus
Vick, a quarterback on Virginia Tech’s football team, is the subject
of an investigation by the Blacksburg police. Vick’s apartment was searched
early yesterday morning by police trying to determine if Vick should be charged
with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The affidavit for the search
warrant says three juvenile girls allege Vick provided alcohol for them and
had sexual intercourse with one of them. -

-- Acquitted of rape, high school football star Marcus Dixon was locked
up after the same jury convicted him of a similar sex crime. Marcus Dixon
claims he was targeted with a throwaway law because he's a Black man who had
sex with a White girl in a high school trailer when he was 18 and she was
15. Prosecutors contend Dixon is a violent sexual predator with a history of harassing
girls. They claim he forced himself on his victim, injured her and is now trying
to wiggle his way out. |

Atlanta Braves center fielder Otis Nixon was arrested after allegedly threatening
his bodyguard with a knife at a Norcross hotel, police said. Nixon, 45, drew the

Circle. Police intervened after the fight, which occurred around 12:40 a.m., spilled

Former High School Coach Sentenced for Rape
A former track coach at a high school in DeKalb County has been sentenced to five
years in prison in the rape of a student. Fifty-five-year-old Elvin Whiten
-- a former track coach at Crim High School -- pleaded guilty Monday to raping
the student in a small room at the school in March. The judge also
sentenced him to 15 years on probation following the prison sentence. |

— A private basketball coach has been accused of having sex with a 15-year-old
girl and paying for her abortion while she was a player under his supervision.
Sara Burt, who now is
24 and who played basketball at Chemeketa Community College, claims Howard
Avery of the private Triple
Threat basketball program began a yearlong sexual relationship with her,
ending with the abortion. Black coach's relationships with young white girl players questioned For years, Avery's relationships with his players have raised concerns in high school basketball circles. Yet recently, others also agreed to allow The Oregonian to publish details of troubling experiences with Avery. Among them is another former player, Liz Paulson, who says Avery kissed her when she was 17 and had sex with her when she was 19 despite what she described as her reluctance. A father says that in 1990 he confronted Avery about allegations that he had made sexual advances toward Oregon City players. And several parents said that two years ago a parent who helps run Triple Threat called a meeting to acknowledge that Avery had a relationship with a young player, but "her parents did not object to it". Avery had a criminal record -- on his way to a third felony conviction as an adult for being caught in stolen cars and driving with a revoked license -- and Smith had heard rumors about Avery's transgressions. In fall 1990, another of John McShane's daughters came home crying,  McShane
said. She was upset with him for recommending Avery to work with the team. His
daughter, who was not an Oregon City High player but had friends on the team,
dropped a bombshell: She told him Avery was making sexual advances toward players,
McShane said. McShane said he went to Avery's house and told him he had heard
that Avery was "messing with some of these girls." At first Avery refused
to talk to him, McShane said. When McShane pressed him, he says Avery told him, "Well, you don't understand my culture." "I was stunned," McShane said. Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson pleaded innocent to charges
of aggravated assault and battery that stemmed from an overnight incident in which
he allegedly held a gun to the head of a former girlfriend. Prosecutors
accused Johnson of threatening the victim with a gun and physically assaulting
her. The victim, a former girlfriend who still lives in Pennsylvania, told the
court she didn't want Johnson to have further contact with her or her residence.
"He would be a danger to me because he was in the past," the victim

Says Tests Will Prove Woman Is Victim - A local woman faced charges on of
allegedly lying about being raped by a Detroit Lions' player. Nicole
Dolores Milburn, 22, stood silently before a judge at the 19th District
Court in Dearborn as she was arraigned on charges of filing a false police report
claiming Lions' wide receiver Scotty Anderson raped her. Milburn -- a student
at a local university and a former exotic dancer. The woman's family also said
that Anderson has been making threatening phone calls to Milburn. |

have been named. Carlton Cole (pictured at left) and Titus Bramble
were questioned over the incident, alleged to have occurred at the Grosvenor House

The
Denver Broncos have suspended defensive tackle Daryl Gardener for two more games
for "conduct detrimental to the team" coach Mike Shanahan announced
today. Gardener was suspended for last week's game vs. Chicago, also because of
conduct detrimental to the team. His subsequent public comments have put him in
violation of the obligation in Paragraph 2 of every NFL player contract to give
his best efforts and loyalty to the club.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A jury Thursday recommended sentencing convicted killer Andrew
Lee to life in prison without parole for murdering a 20-year-old store clerk.
Lee (pictured, left), was found guilty in March of killing Shauna
Sandercock (pictured) while she was working at her fiance's store,
Game-Arama, located at 3103 W. Broad St. Sandercock's naked body was found
face-down on the floor of the store.
