Oklahoma U. Expels (White) Racist Students, But Not Violent (Black) Football Players University of Oklahoma President David Boren expelled two students for racist chanting, ostensibly because the school has an unofficial zero tolerance policy on racism. But Boren had plenty of tolerance for OU football players who committed violence against women and were allowed, not merely to remain at the university, but also to rejoin the football team. The Daily Caller News Foundation's Blake Neff notes that last year, (black) freshman Joe Mixon was caught on tape punching a (white) female student in the face. He knocked her unconscious and broke four of her facial bones. He was later convicted of a misdemeanor assault charge. I also believe in second chances, although it's easier for me to grant them to people who merely said insensitive things than it is for me to grant them to perpetrators of violence against women. Boren, it seems, feels differently. Or perhaps star running back Mixon was more deserving of forgiveness because he was a critical part of OU's football program?. - (Black-on-white) |

2 Police Officers Shot in Ferguson ‘Ambush’ Are Released From Hospital FERGUSON, Mo. — The two police officers who were shot during a protest here early Thursday were victims of “an ambush,” the St. Louis County police chief said, hours after gunfire rang out in front of the police station, throwing into panic what had been a largely peaceful protest. Demonstrators and police officers alike hit the ground when the shots echoed through the crisp air shortly after midnight, striking the two officers. Many people ran for cover, and police officers clad in riot gear dragged their wounded comrades to safety. Other officers crouched behind cars and walls, drawing their handguns or rifles as they rapidly swiveled their heads every which way to survey their surroundings. The injured officers were released from the hospital Thursday morning. “We’re lucky by God’s grace we didn’t lose two officers last night,” Chief Jon Belmar of the St. Louis County Police Department said at a midmorning news conference. It was clear that the police were the targets, he said, adding, “This is really an ambush, is what it is.” The younger officer was shot in the cheekbone, just below his right eye, and the bullet lodged behind his right ear, Chief Belmar said. A bullet struck the other officer in the right shoulder, and exited his back on the right side. No officers returned fire. |

Neverson will also be charged with the attempted murder of Frank Dike Nwagbara, a businessman who was shot during a home invasion in LaSalle on July 16, 2006. A woman who was conned out of £50,000 by her Senegalese husband in a immigration marriage scam wants to help other women avoid the same fate. Kim Sow, 58, from Dover, has been calling for the government to take action since her husband Laye walked out on her after obtaining his British citizenship. She had no idea that Laye had been in the UK illegally and that he was already married to at least two other women. Kim, a music producer was 49 when she first met Laye, then 43, in a London nightclub in 2007. She said there was an 'instant attraction' and their romance had a 'normal progression to a full-on relationship'. He told her he was a widower supporting three young children in Senegal. Kim said she had no reason not to believe him as he even had his wife's death certificate to prove it. 'He said he was religious man so couldn't live with me if we weren't married. He told me he didn't believe in polygamy and didn't do affairs. Using the social network site, Kim discovered Laye hadn't lied about the death of his first wife, with whom he had one child. But he had gone on to marry another woman in Africa with whom he had his two other children. He had then married a Dutch woman and another English women and ripped them off in similar circumstances to his dealings with Kim. Appeals court upholds conviction in horrific (black-on-White racist) Knoxville slayings KNOXVILLE - A state appeals court late Tuesday issued an opinion upholding the conviction and death sentence for the ringleader in one of Knoxville's most notorious crimes. The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals in a 91-page opinion rejected every argument advanced by Lemaricus Davidson, who was sentenced to die in the January 2007 torture killings of Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23. Davidson was tried in October 2009. Trial testimony showed Davidson orchestrated the initial carjacking of the couple, who were held captive at Davidson's Chipman Street house before their deaths, and DNA evidence linked him to repeated rapes of Christian. Of the four defendants charged and convicted in the case, Davidson was the only one to receive a death sentence. The appellate court, in the opinion authored by Judge James Curwood Witt Jr., ruled there was ample evidence to support all of Davidson's myriad convictions for the carjacking, kidnapping, rape and slayings of the couple. The court rejected claims by Davidson's defense team of bad rulings before trial, legal mistakes during the trial and constitutional issues involving the law itself. - (Black-on-white) |

"Evil, soulless"black Clearwater teen sentenced for murder committed when he was 15 Seventeen-year-old Mychal King will spend at least the next 25 years of his life in prison for the stabbing death of Jason Paul, 22, two years ago near Crest Lake Park in Clearwater. King was 15 years old when he repeatedly plunged a knife into Paul in a fit of rage. They were total strangers. Police say King was angry at his mother the day of the murder and vowed to kill the first person he came across. "I think she needs to take responsibility for the fact taht she failed being a parent to him," said the victim's mother Renee Langfritz And so he did. King was supposed to face trial for Paul's murder today but entered a guilty plea, instead. At his sentencing Langfritz called King "an evil, soulless human being." The judge could not give King the death penalty or sentence him to life without parole because he was a juvenile at the time of the murder. The judge gave him life with the possibility of parole after 25 years. "There's a special place in Hell for you," Langfritz told King. "Unfortunately you cannot get the death penalty you bestowed on all of us." - (Black-on-white) |

Black Knoxville man sentenced to 68 years in prison for killing mother-to-be A Knoxville man has been sentenced to almost seven decades behind bars for killing his ex-girlfriend and her unborn child. The judge handed down a 68 year prison sentence to Brandon Donaldson. In February 2013 Donaldson fired eleven rounds at Marcia Crider and her mother as they drove away after an argument. Crider was struck by two of the rounds, one of which killed her unborn child. She was thirteen weeks pregnant. Back in January, a jury found Donaldson guilty of second degree murder and attempted second degree murder because Crider’s mother was also in the car during the shooting. Donaldson is the first defendant convicted in Knox County under a law that allows for the prosecution of defendants who murder a fetus, regardless of the viability of the unborn child. Under previous law, the fetus had to be viable in order sustain a charge for murder |

Resale of stolen iPhone led police to suspect in attack on Emanuel’s son A trail of online sales of Zach Emanuel’s stolen iPhone led the Chicago Police Department to one of the two suspects authorities say mugged Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s son in December near the family’s North Side home. The now-18-year-old man arrested in the attack and robbery — which occurred on a mid-December night across the street from the mayor’s heavily guarded house in Ravenswood — sold the phone online to another man who, in turn, sold it to a woman through Facebook, according to the police. “When the woman who bought the phone tried to activate it with her mobile provider, it didn’t work,” police spokesman Martin Maloney said. “She took it to a small retailer, who ran it through a database. The retailer saw it had been reported stolen, and they gave her the phone number it had been associated with.” The woman contacted Zach Emanuel, and “he connected her with police,” Maloney said. These new details about the case — from interviews, police reports and court records — have come to light as Phillip Payne is set to face trial Monday in Cook County juvenile court in the mugging. Normally, the police wouldn’t release the name of a juvenile charged with a crime. But Payne, who was 17 at the time of the attack on Emanuel’s son, turned 18 on Jan. 30. A week later, on Feb. 6, he was arrested as an adult for another crime: lying to the police about his identity, according to police reports and court records. - (Drudge) |
