Black arrested for mugging of 101-year-old White woman  NEW YORK - Police arrested a man Friday in the the mugging last month of a 101-year-old woman with a walker. Jack Rhodes, 44, was arrested on charges of robbery, grand larceny, burglary and assault, police said. He was also accused of robbing an 85-year-old woman the same day, police said. Police began questioning Rhodes after noticing he matched a photo of a person wanted for questioning in robberies of women. He was initially held on a charge of possession of a crack pipe.
Among the robbery victims was 101-year-old Rose Morat, whose holdup was captured on a surveillance tape that outraged New Yorkers.

Black Airman's Trial for Murder of White Aviatrix Woman in Iceland Begins in D.C.  An airman killed a U.S. servicewoman at a base in Iceland because she was going to testify against him in another case, prosecutors said at the start of his court-martial Wednesday. Defense attorneys countered that military investigators rushed to pin the slaying on Airman Calvin Eugene Hill without considering another man with a strong motive. Hill, 21, of Warren, Ohio, has been charged with murder in the death of Airman First Class Ashley Turner. He could face the death penalty if convicted. Turner, 20, of Frederick, Md., was found beaten and stabbed in a dormitory lounge at the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland, on Aug. 14, 2005. She was to testify against Hill in a court-martial on larceny charges that month. Judge Sentences Convicted Black Trashman Serial Killer Gilyard KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A judge sentenced a former trash company supervisor to life in prison without parole Friday for strangling six women in 1986 and 1987. The sentence was the only one possible after Lorenzo Gilyard, 56, was convicted last month of killing the women -- all but one a prostitute. "He's forfeited any right to live here among the rest of us," Jackson County Judge John O'Malley said. "That's the comfort we can derive." Two White police officers assassinated in Charlotte by black * Black charged in killing of Charlotte cops   Two police officers shot during a struggle with a suspect outside an apartment complex died early Sunday, and a suspect was charged with murder, authorities said. Sean Clark, 34, and Jeffrey Shelton, 35, were responding to a disturbance call at the apartment complex in Charlotte late Saturday. They were shot in the parking lot, and both died at a hospital, according to police. Both officers were married. UK: Murdered so he didn't tell * Murder-room man gets cleared of all charges  A MAN has been jailed for life after watching a "psychopathic and homophobic" attack on a father-of-three before strangling him, and hiding his body in a wardrobe, to stop him going to the police. Heavily-built Richard Truszczynski, 26, was jailed on Friday for the "utterly pointless" murder of Russell Aylett, 42, at the Rush Green Road YMCA last March. A MAN charged with brutally murdering a father of three has been found not guilty. Michael Cocks, 27, was alleged to have helped beat Russell Aylett, 43, to death at his temporary bed-sit at Romford YMCA, Rush Green Road, in March last year. The father-of-three's decomposing body was found stuffed in a wardrobe three days later, after staff investigated a smell. A post-mortem revealed he was alive when dumped in the wardrobe. Black suspect in rape murder of White co-ed heads to court  A man accused of killing Hastings student Laura Dickinson in her dorm room was in court Thursday. This case has not only focused on who killed the Hastings teenager but how the school handled her death in the days and weeks after her body was discovered. A Vice President at the school has been suspended and an investigation continues into allegations of a cover-up. But Thursday, the case came to the courtroom for the preliminary hearing of Orange Amir Taylor. More details have surfaced about the death of 22-year-old Laura Dickinson. Black NYC Man Receives 240-Years for Taking Bar Patrons Hostage in Hate Crime N  EW YORK — A judge sentenced a man to 240 years in prison Wednesday for taking hostages in a bar and telling patrons that "white people are going to burn tonight." State Supreme Court Justice Maxwell Wiley told Steven Johnson, 39, who is black, that he had forfeited his "right to live in society." Johnson, 39, was convicted March 1 of attempted murder, assault and other charges, including some designated as hate crimes. Johnson invaded Bar Veloce, in Manhattan's East Village neighborhood, while nine men and six women were inside it June 16, 2002. He was carrying three pistols, a samurai sword and a container of kerosene. He told police he had left the Brooklyn housing project where he lived and taken the subway to go look for "happy" white people to avenge the mistreatment of blacks. He shot and wounded three people, including a police officer, and sprayed kerosene on several customers and threatened to set them on fire. Two women caught Johnson off guard and tackled him, and a policeman shot him. Black Sports: DA calls for special prosecutor case of black footballer accused of raping blonde woman  DENVER – Arapahoe County District Attorney Carol Chamber has recused her office from handling the case of a woman who claims she was raped in 2000 by a former CU football player while he was a recruit. The victim in the case, Marie, told 9NEWS a prosecutor from then Arapahoe DA Jim Peter's office said they would not pursue her case in 2004 because of publicity surrounding the CU football recruiting scandal. $5,000 reward offered in case of White Mississippi National Guardman gunned down by black MONTGOMERY | Gov. Bob Riley’s office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of a University of Alabama student last year. Conrad Hollis, 21, was shot outside his residence on Orange Street after UA’s homecoming concert Oct. 27. Authorities have said that Hollis, a member of the Mississippi National Guard who had recently returned from Iraq, was a passenger in a Nissan Pathfinder that was involved in a wreck with another car. Investigators believe the driver of the other car followed the students to their home and shot Hollis when he stepped out of the car. The FBI lab in Quantico, Va., enhanced video from a traffic camera that shows the suspect’s car as a red, maroon or salmon-colored car appearing to be a 1995-1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. It was occupied by a man and a woman. The man was described as six feet to six feet, two inches tall and between 220 and 240 pounds with short hair and light facial hair around his mouth and chin. The woman was described as slim, about six feet tall with a dark complexion and curly, shoulder-length hair. Both suspects appeared to be black. "Crazy" homeless black woman responsible for burning four white people alive      CHICAGO - A woman suspected of starting a series of fires near Wrigley Field, including one that killed four people, was charged Monday with murder, authorities said.Mary Smith, 43, was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated arson, the Cook County state's attorney office said. Police identified Smith after witnesses reported seeing an unkempt woman, wearing clear plastic bags on her feet, near the scene of three small fires, said Edward O'Donnell, commander of the police department's bomb and arson unit. The fourth fire, reported shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday within walking distance of the others, quickly spread through a three-story apartment building, killing four people inside a top-floor apartment, fire officials said. Smith made a number of self-incriminating statements during questioning and witnesses identified her from "numerous" lineups, police said. She appeared coherent and calm, they said. “There's some stuff that she knew too well, so she gave statements that would put her on the scene,” Area 3 Police Comdr. Thomas Byrne said. Prosecutors: Negress Set Fatal Fire To Warm Up Cold Feet The fire early Saturday at 3553 N. Fremont claimed the lives of single mother Jennifer Carlson, 24, her roommate Jason Bowers, 23, and two friends -- Jerod Pilgreen, 21, of Poplar Grove and Joseph Schultz of Belvidere. Carlson and Bowers rented a third-floor unit. A fifth person jumped from a third-floor window at the burning apartment building. The survivor might have inadvertently aided the fire’s spread, said police Bomb and Arson unit Cmdr. Ed O’Donnell. The man left his apartment door open, which “allowed superheated air and gases to enter,” O’Donnell said. At Smith’s bond hearing, Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Lacy said Smith set the fire in an interior stairwell at 3553 N. Fremont just before 7 a.m. Saturday. "She said she lost her shoes that night and her feet were cold," Lacy said. At the request of Smith’s lawyer, Assistant Public Defender Dayna Woodbury, Hyland sent Smith to Cook County’s Cermak Hospital instead of the jail. “All indications are she is seriously mentally ill,’’ said Woodbury. “She needs medication. Students said the school covered up the rape and murder of a fellow student. The body of Laura Dickinson, 22, of Hastings was found inside her dorm room on Dec. 15. Students claim they were told Dickinson died of what appeared to be "natural causes". "I kind of just feel like they were holding things back. They should have just told us," said student Bejarney Tabscott. Police said Dickinson was raped and murdered. Fellow EMU student Orange Amir Taylor, pictured left, was arrested Feb. 23. Feral Black Mugger Attacks 101-Yr-Old White Woman and an 85-year-old woman  A New York City mugger attacked a 101-year-old woman, punched her in the face and knocked her over before making off with her handbag, according to police and a security-camera video. Shortly afterward, the same suspect victimized an 85-year-old woman Solange Elizee, also using a walker, police said Friday as they pressed the public for tips that could identify him. The attacks took place in separate buildings in the Jamaica section of Queens last Sunday. The suspect, a black male in his 30s, is wanted in a string of neighborhood robberies. Smiling Black pleads not guilty to running down a white family in McDonald's parking lot - killing 2-year-old   The black man accused of running down five white family members and killing a 2-year-old girl in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Covington last May pleaded not guilty. Lanny Perry Barnes, 46, attended the 15-minute arraignment hearing wearing street clothes and no expression on his face. Sitting behind him was Stephanie Casola, the mother who was hit, along with her two sons, niece, and sister, by Barnes' vehicle. Witnesses told police that Barnes struck the family, backed up, smiled, and drove into them again. Casola's niece, Avery King, died of her injuries. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child.
