Sports: Ex-Wrestler Indicted in Prostitution Ring Case - "a ruthless pimp" A wrestler who was once known as "Hardbody Harrison" has been indicted on charges of running a prostitution ring and using beatings and sexual assault to keep eight women in sexual slavery. Federal authorities say Harrison Norris Jr. was a ruthless pimp who kept the women virtual prisoners in two Cartersville homes he owned. Aimee Allen, 33 and Cedric Lamar Jackson, 39 have also been charged. "From April 2004 to August 2005, the defendants recruited and sometimes kidnapped young women and then forced them to engage in prostitution in the Atlanta metropolitan area for their financial benefit," said an indictment. - (NNN Newsroom) - (crime) - (more sports) |

Sports: Ex-Cincinnati State basketballer faces 2nd rape trial Hamilton County prosecutors plan to try former Cincinnati State basketball player Floyd Davis again after a jury announced earlier this week it couldn't decide if the 20-year-old raped another student in a college classroom. Prosecutors, however, argued that Davis, who was living in Clifton at the time, tricked the 21-year-old female into following him from a computer lab where she had been working on homework to an empty and windowless classroom, where they say he raped her. - (Cowboy Zeke, Mr. Mojo) |

Every Black Kid Should Strive to Be a Professional Athlete - by The NCAA's (1998) annual six-year study reported that only 33% of Black male basketball players graduated and 42% of Black football players graduated at the division I level . Individually, basketball reported the lowest graduation rate in all divisions. This number tells me that 67% of Black male basketball players, in this study, who attended college did not receive proper academic advising. |
Sports: Disgraced Brooklyn high school basketball coach tied to teen affair kills self A disgraced Brooklyn high school basketball coach arrested this week for sleeping with a 14-year-old girl ended his life yesterday with a shotgun blast to the head, police said. Lawrence Major, 45, shot himself as he sat in the front seat of his car near his sister's Queens home at 8:30 a.m., police said. Major, a popular teacher and winning coach at Paul Robeson High School in Crown Heights, was released on $25,000 bail Thursday - a day after he was arrested for allegedly carrying on a three-year relationship with the underage student. - (Rule .308) |
Sports: Nigerian football agent John Shittu has been fined for violating Norwegian foreign currency laws Shittu represents Nigerian teenage sensation John Mikel Obi, who plays for Lyn Oslo in Norway. Obi was at the center of a transfer conflict between English clubs Manchester United and Chelsea. The agent, who also faces a smuggling charge, was stopped for a routine check at the Oslo Gardermoen Airport on Tuesday. Customs officials also confiscated a watch worth an estimated US$13,850 because it exceeded the limit for duty-free imports. - (Madkins) |

Her 15-year-old niece could easily have picked up who Vilakazi was from her friend who would "become excited when Tso [Vilakazi's nickname] came to visit". She said there was only one incident after the alleged rape on January 27 and before the charge was laid on February 12 that she saw Vilakazi and the girl together. Black basketballer only gets 90 days for raping a 15-year-old girl A former Montana State University basketball player was sentenced Monday to 90 days in jail for twice raping a 15-year-old girl, at least once when she was passed out after drinking whiskey with him. District Judge Mike Salvagni also gave Frank Brown a six-year deferred sentence and ordered him to undergo treatment and register as a sexual offender. Brown, 21, of Las Vegas, apologized to the court, then asked to serve his jail time at a future date. The girl, now 16, told Brown she was angry at him and said he had shown no remorse. Sports: Basketballers Ron Artest, Jermaine O'Neal and Stephen Jackson Sentenced to Probation for Brawl The three all of whom entered pleas of no contest were also ordered to undergo anger management counseling. A fourth player charged in the brawl, David Harrison, faces an Oct. 3 hearing. A fifth, Anthony Johnson, pleaded no contest last week to a count of misdemeanor assault and battery and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7. All the players were charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, which carries a maximum sentence of 93 days in jail and a $500 fine. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Former Orlando Magic analyst Jack "Goose" Givens denied Thursday that he ever sexually molested a 14-year-old girl whom he was instructing in basketball. On Wednesday, his alleged victim told a different story. She said that last year, when she was 14, Givens fondled her twice in her pool, once in her bedroom and tried unsuccessfully to get her to perform oral sex. The grandmother testified Thursday that when she peered out one of the windows, Givens was holding the girl from behind. |
Sports: Brigham Young University footballer testifies at rape trial PROVO — A former Brigham Young University football player said he knew he was wrong for allowing sexual activity to happen between a teenage girl and several fellow athletes last August. "I feel like we shouldn't have (done) what we did," 18-year-old William Turner Jr. told the jury Monday morning. "It was wrong." In the fourth day of the trial for B.J. Mathis and Ibrahim Rashada, Turner responded to questions about his role of providing alcohol to a then 17-year-old girl. Turner, who was also 17 at the time of the incident, is being tried in juvenile court in return for his testimony. |

Former NFL running black allegedly rams three teens LOS ANGELES -- Former NFL running black Lawrence Phillips, who was wanted by police for domestic violence, was arrested Sunday after allegedly running his car into three teenagers who argued with him during a pickup football game, police said. Police had been seeking Phillips since earlier this month for allegedly attacking his girlfriend twice, once choking her into unconsciousness." Phillips joined a group of 16- and 17-year-olds in a pickup football game in Exposition Park and got into an argument with several of the teens. He left the park, but returned and drove a black Honda onto the field, allegedly running into three teenage boys. |
Sports: Former NFL cornerblack charged with trafficking marijuana WALHALLA, S.C. (AP) -- Former NFL cornerblack Derek Ross was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana after a traffic stop. The 25-year-old Ross, who was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002, was in a car with another man when police stopped the rented Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 85 near the South Carolina-Georgia border, according to Capt. Donnie Fricks of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office. |
