The judge also ordered Laury to undergo a polygraph examination and sex offender screening. Laury entered an Alford plea to the lesser charge after three trials ended in hung juries. The plea does not mean he admitted guilt, but indicated he believed that he could be convicted. The Forney, Texas, native, had been charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a felony that carries a 25-year sentence. Prosecutors argued that Laury had sex with an acquaintance in November 2004 after she asked him to stop, then called another football player to have sex with the woman. - (more sports) |
