Killer Laughs, Tells Families To 'Get Over It'     TACOMA, Wash. -- Tensions were high in a Tacoma courtroom Wednesday when a man who pleaded guilty to killing three people told the victims' families to "get over it." Ulysses Handy, 24, will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to murder charges to avoid a possible death penalty. He shot 28-year old Darren Christian, 20-year old Daniel Varo and 21-year old Lindy Cochran to death in February during a robbery at a Tacoma home. The three were his friends. Handy smirked in court as relatives of the victims talked about their loss. When it was his turn to speak, Handy said he was asking for no sympathy because he doesn't have any. Handy showed no remorse as he addressed the court Wednesday, "I feel there's two types of people in this world, us and them, predator and prey. Well, I'm damn sure not a prey. So, I know there's people up in here hurt. Well, pain's a part of life, deal with it, get over it." | Judge Calls Westchester Mall Killer 'Face of Evil' Black Gets 25-To-Life for knifing a woman to death in a mall parking garage because she was white  WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A homeless man was sentenced Monday to 25 years to life in prison for knifing a woman to death in a mall parking garage because she was white. "You, Mr. Grant, represent the face of evil," State Supreme Court Justice Lester Adler told the man, Phillip Grant. Grant seemed unmoved as the maximum sentence was imposed. As he was led out of the courtroom, the victim's son, Jonathan Russo, shouted, "Disgusting animal!" Grant, 44, who is black, was convicted in July of murder as a hate crime in the killing of Concetta Russo-Carriero, a 56-year-old legal secretary. She was stabbed twice in the heart in June 2005 in the parking garage of the Galleria mall in downtown White Plains. Captured just minutes later, Grant quickly admitted his guilt, led police to a bloody knife and sat for a videotaped confession in which he ranted about a race war, saying of his victim, "As long as she had blond hair and blue eyes, she had to die." Alleged son of white musician brutally murdered by blacks wants "you racist lowlives to hang"   KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man accused in the slaying of a Kansas City Symphony musician admitted his guilt. Sylvon Sese pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Investigators said that Sese was one of four people arrested in the death of Steven Peters. Peters was shot to death inside his Independence home during a burglary in September. Three other defendants are still awaiting trial. Michael Jones and Richard Jones were charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Steven Peters.The men were allegedly trying to rob the home, but Peters fought back.

Suspect Who Kidnaped and Raped White Female Lawyer Escapes Ala. Prison  A man charged in the videotaped kidnapping of a female lawyer who was grabbed at gunpoint outside her downtown loft has escaped from prison, possibly with help, authorities said Friday. Authorities tried using tracking dogs to hunt for Dedrick Griham, but they lost his scent at a road outside the lockup. Officials said they did not know where he was headed. Griham, who has a long criminal record and apparently was out on parole by mistake at the time of the abduction, is accused of rape, sodomy and robbery in the May 31 kidnapping, which was captured by a parking lot surveillance camera as the lawyer got out of her car. The abduction drew wide notice as the videotape, which shows a man approaching and pushing her inside before driving off, was aired on cable television a short time after it occurred. The woman's ordeal ended that afternoon when she was rescued from a motel room where law officers said she had been held against her will. Keith Owens Parker, 48, remains jailed on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Georgina Kimble, 37. "That outrages me," said Sandra Moreland, Kimble's mother. "I believe in rehabilitation. But there's a difference between rehabilitating them and knowing you can't rehabilitate them. ... The laws in this state are messed up." Dark "person of interest" sought in white woman's disappearance - Reward offered   RALEIGH, N.C. -- The employer of a Wake County woman who disappeared this week is now offering a reward for information on her whereabouts. Progress Energy announced Saturday that it is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that helps authorities find Cynthia Moreland, who disappeared from a downtown Raleigh parking deck Tuesday morning on her way to work. Antonio Chance, 29, was arrested Friday and charged with kidnapping and obtaining property by false pretenses in connection with Moreland's disappearance. Chance was identified by police as the man who visited a nearby Dollar General Store and tried to use Moreland's debit card shortly after her disappearance. Chance and Moreland are not believed to have known each other prior to the alleged kidnapping, said police. Criminal black live-in 'boyfriend' kills ex-girlfriend's mother and white female teacher - wounds two others     ESSEX, Vermont (AP) -- A man accused of killing two people and wounding two others in a shooting rampage that began at his ex-girlfriend's home and continued at an elementary school pleaded not guilty Friday, while a prosecutor said the suspect confessed to the crimes. Christopher A. Williams, 27, was ordered held without bail. He shot himself twice in the head after the rampage Thursday and appeared in court confined to a wheelchair, arms strapped to his sides and feet shackled. Williams was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and attempted murder. He was released from a hospital and transferred to jail. He appeared listless in court, slumping in his chair and showing no emotion. A 'mental health' counselor told the Judge that Williams had said he wanted to drown himself in a toilet after being arrested. He was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Williams confessed to the shootings, which started after a fight with ex-girlfriend Andrea Lambesis. Intent on killing her, he went looking for Lambesis at the home he shared with her and her mother, Linda Lambesis, 57. Williams shot the elder woman to death, then went to Essex Elementary School in search of her daughter but Williams didn't find her.
He fatally shot second-grade teacher Mary Alicia Shanks, 56, in her classroom and wounded school staffer Mary Snedeker, 52, Vincent said. Later he shot his 'friend' that had given him the murder weapon. Convict Marrion Smith took a sharpened toothbrush from his rectum and stabbed Corrections Officer Gary Myers   COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two corrections officers have been cleared of any wrongdoing after they used deadly force during an attempted inmate escape. The incident occurred on May 10 when Marrion Smith stabbed an officer with a homemade weapon, and escaped from a hospital building before being shot by officers. Smith was being brought to The Ohio State University Medical Center for treatment. Officers transporting Smith performed a strip search of Smith before dressing him for the trip and nothing was found. After receiving treatment, Smith took a sharpened toothbrush from his rectum and stabbed Corrections Officer Gary Myers in the head and neck area. Arrest made in slaying of White man by Black youth during robbery   Homicide detectives made an arrest Thursday in Wednesday's slaying of a North Buffalo man and the stabbing of his wife. Justin Kelly, 19, was taken into custody at his residenc and, after questioning, confessed to the crime. A knife was recovered after he was questioned. Kelly had left something at the scene on Bedford Avenue that provided a critical clue to his identity. He declined to elaborate. Kelly was charged with second-degree murder, felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and robbery. "Apparently robbery was the motive," Gipson said. "It was random . . . as they were walking down the street." The commissioner said Kelly confronted Paul J. McCabe outside his home, demanding his cell phone. When McCabe refused, Gipson said, a struggle ensued, and McCabe's wife of 19 years, Christine G. LaBarre, came to his aid, only to be stabbed in the arm. Black man arrested for allegedly killing White Gentile Illinois tourist who stopped for directions   MIAMI (AP) -- A "bad Samaritan" accused of fatally shooting an Illinois tourist who stopped to ask directions turned himself into police Friday, authorities said. Brandon Antron Rolle, was arrested in the robbery and murder of Ronald Gentile, Miami Police spokesman Delrish Moss said. "He came here to the station and walked into the front desk with family members saying he had something the he needed to clear up," Moss said. Moss would not say whether Rolle confessed to the crime, but said investigators were interviewing him. Authorities say Gentile -- a furniture salesman from Homewood, Ill. -- was here celebrating his son Paul's 17th birthday. He dropped the teen off at his restaurant job at a shopping mall and the two planned to meet later Saturday to watch "Superman Returns." Police said they believe Gentile, 54, pulled over in the Coconut Grove area to ask for directions when a man dressed entirely in black approached the car, robbed and shot him. Gentile was seen exiting his rental car, running a short distance, then collapsing. Black male to be executed for the murder of a white mother and her son On June 26, 1997, Derrick Frazier and co-defendant Jermain Herron burglarized a private residence. Then they took the property and went next door to a residence where a white female was alone with her son. The victim offered them a ride into town and when she went out to start her vehicle, Frazier followed her. When she went back into the house, he shot her in the face with a 9-millimeter handgun. He then shot her again in the back of the head. The co-defendant shot the son one time in the head and three more times in the chest and abdominal area with a 9-millimeter handgun. Frazier and the co-defendant then took Nutt?s pickup and fled the scene. Authorities said the arrest of Allan Barahona at his girlfriend's house in Pine Hills, Fla., Wednesday ended an intense manhunt that put Universal Studios under lockdown Tuesday night and closed several major Orlando roads during rush hour traffic. Investigators said the incident began when sheriff's Deputy Michael Callin stood on an I-4 median and tried to perform a traffic stop near Universal Boulevard and Kirkman Road. Four black teens charged in Lockport gang rape of disabled White 15-year-old girl     LOCKPORT - Four 16-year-old youths are charged in the gang rape in May of a 15-year-old disabled girl at the home of one of the boys. Police say the attackers violated the girl and recorded the assault with a cell phone camera. The charges followed a two-month investigation by Lockport Police Lt. David Barrancotta. The teens befriended the girl then lured her to the home of one of the attackers May 12, where they took turns attacking her over an hour and a half, said Detective Capt. Lawrence Eggert. He said the victim and the suspects were students at Lockport High School. The four charged are: Dontre R. Woods of Lock Street, where the attack occurred; Dartain M. Ubiles of Frontier Street, Niagara Falls; Nicholas M. Smith of Crosby Avenue; and Antonio J. Sheppard of Gabriel Drive. Two were charged with first-degree forcible rape and three youths were charged with felony first-degree criminal sexual act. A fourth youth was charged with videotaping the attack on his cell phone. Three charged in slaying, robbery of Mount Vernon businessman  MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (AP) -- Two men and a woman are charged in the robbery and killing of an affluent real-estate developer and philanthropist whose body was found earlier this month in his secluded home near this Jefferson County community. Christopher Watkins, 21, of Mount Vernon was arrested Monday on charges of felony murder and robbery in the shooting death of 53-year-old Randy Farrar, whose body was found July 5. Farrar was shot twice in the head at close range. A judge also has approved arrest warrants charging Krysta DonoHO, 21, and Demetrus Cole, 28, of Mount Vernon, with felony murder and robbery. Skull Found in creek ID'd as 5-year-old White girl Emily Rimel - kidnaped, raped and murdered by black   A skull found in a creek earlier this week has been identified as that of a five-year-old columbus-area girl who disappeared a year and a-half ago. Investigators have identified the remains of Emily Rimel through DNA. Emily was last seen at her home early in the morning on December 7th, 2004. Two people fishing found the skull on Tuesday. The Coroner ays there was trauma to the skull. With confirmation that the remains are those of Emily Rimel, the prosecutor's office can move ahead with plans to seek murder charges against the main suspect. Lindsay Bruce, is serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted of kidnapping Rimel in December 2004. At the time, Bruce was not charged with murder. While Ohio law does not require the presence of a corpse to charge someone in a homicide, doing so without a body does raise the chances that a jury could acquit. O'Brien says this could easily become a death penalty case based on several factors, including Rimel's age. Over the next few weeks, reports will be written state crime lab investigators and the county coroner's office. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child.
